1963 Annual General Meeting

A General meeting was held in the village hall on April 7th 1964 in the presence of 13 members.

The meeting opened with the reading of the minutes of the last general meeting by the Secretary. Together with the accounts it showed a balance in hand of 66 pounds 9 shillings, a profit of 2 pounds 3 shillings and six and a half pence on the year.

The averages for 1963 were then read. Mr A Butler topped the batting, bowling and catches, a very good performance.

The club enjoyed a good season regarding matches.

The officials for the 1964 seasonwere then read, several changes were made, one of note to have separate captains for Saturday and Sunday matches, these being Mr R Pick and Mr R Chettle respectively.

The members of the club were pleased to see our President present as he was re-elected again for the coming year.

One change in the bowling averages being that a bowler qualified by taking 15 wickets instead of 25 to be in the averages.

It was decided at the meeting to approach a firm for the hire of a roller. At the close of the meeting the President proposed a vote of thanks to the Secretary and also to Mrs D Smith for her work towards the club as scorer.

Match Report Fri Aug24 1963 West Bridgford Despatch & Clifton Standard

Willoughby will want to forget this match against Thrumpton. This was probably their worst display of the season and the number of catches dropped were too numerous to mention.

Thrumpton took advantage of Willoughby's mishaps to consolidate their score after a poor start of 9 runs for 2 wickets in 50 minutes, Butler and Smith speeded up the scoring after this and were not parted until the score reached 78. They finally declared at 99 after tea leaving Willoughby 1 and a half hours to get the runs.

The Willoughby batting was equal to their fielding, rather pathetic. Only Barker looked like getting any runs against the bowling of Butler and Shaw, the former taking 5 wickets for 6 runs and 6 consecutive maidens.

Another bowler Chettle had the unusual analysis of 6 overs, 6 maidens and no wickets. Willoughby who batted with 10 men had 2 wickets left with only one over to go. An unfortunate run out put paid to their valiant effort to force a draw and the last man was out LBW with two balls to go. Thrumpton won by 72 runs.
