Greg Pick becomes a Phantom

Thrumpton Cricket Clubs very own Greg Pick has signed for the Peterborough Phantoms Ice Hockey Team in the English Premier League.

Following hot on the heels of his Dad's return to Thrumpton Cricket Club, we are delighted to tell you all that Greg Pick has signed a contract to play Ice Hockey for the Peterborough Phantoms in the English Premier League. Everyone at Thrumpton wishes Greg all the best.

The Dalrod sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have today announced the signing of Defenceman Greg Pick for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

Pick is originally from Nottingham and was a product of the Nottingham Junior system. He left Nottingham for 3 seasons in the US where spent the 2009-10 season playing for the National Sports Academy Varsity. he spent the 2010-11 season playing Midget AAA for the West Michigan Hounds and the following season playing for the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

Head Coach Jon Kynaston said of the signing ‘Greg is a good kid just looking for a chance to prove himself and play.

‘He will be good to have around with Declan (Balmer) being pretty much fully committed with Solway over the next few months’

Greg has played the last 5 games for the Slough Jets, as cover whilst players were away with GB or injured. The Phantoms organisation would like to thank the Slough Jets, and Ice Hockey UK, for speed at which they have handled the transfer. Greg should be cleared in time to make his Phantoms debut today in Guildford.

Trivia Fact: Greg is the son of former Nottinghamshire fast bowler Andy Pick who enjoyed a professional cricket playing career spanning 14 years.
