Round 2 of the Leics & Rutland KWIK Cricket League saw us travel to local rivals Kegworth to take on the hosts and Hathern Old.

Friday night saw the Thrumpton KWIKs travel to Kegworth for Round 2 of the Leics & Rutland KWIK cricket league.

First up for the Badgers were the hosts Kegworth Town.

Captain Sam won the toss for the 3rd match running and chose to field first. Some superb bowling from all 8 players saw Kegworth only score 222, a target that should have proved no problem.

In reply though a flurry of early wickets saw the badgers in trouble at the half way stage on 202. Some fantastic hitting though from the partnership of Zoe and Poppy saw them score 35 runs in their 2 overs putting the Badgers back into the driving seat.

With Captain Sam and Joe in at the end and making sure they didn't lose a wicket, the badgers finished on 262, a victory of 40 runs.

Next up were Hathern Old with an almost completely different team, in fact the only person playing from the 1st game was Sam.

This side also contained a lot more of the inexperienced players. George was skipper for this game and lost the toss, with Hathern electing to bat first.

Hathern found scoring runs difficult as the Thrumpton bowlers and fielders kept it tight. Throughout the middle over the bowlers also picked up wickets, with Hathern finishing on 223.

In reply the Badger lost wickets early and were very much behind the run rate but a big last over that saw the skipper George hit 2 big six's saw the Badgers home, finishing on 241.

That result meant it was 2 wins out of 2 on the night and making it 4 wins out of 4 in the league so far.

Well done to all the players on a superb start and thank you to the travelling Badger Army, your support as ever was superb!

Bring on Round 3 on Friday 30 May as we travel to Shepshed.
