Trevor Vennett Smith (Captain)
The Victor Pile of the side. Not only has he got up the nose of many opposing teams over the years, he's been a pain in the butt with his own team mates as well. Scored 102 not out and took 5 for 33 against the Presidents XI in 1986. President Hon G Seymour was not too happy
Fiery Khan Forbes
Talented opening batsman who has broken many a pavilion window not only with the ball, but also with the bat and the helmet flying across the room. Scored many a high score including 112 against Old Suttonians in 2006
Mark 'Don't mess with me' Payne
Placid opening bat the Honey Monsters last altercation with the opposition on the field of play was as far back as 2 weeks ago in Division D. Prolific batsman who seems to get himself out in the nervous nineties. Probably the yard glass comes into contention.
Andy Coles
All rounder now playing for Caythorpe and a member of the police force. Drafted in at short notice to control the opening pair. Top score for Thrumpton with the bat 93. Has also taken 4 for 6 with the ball and has been known to have a stint as wicketkeeper.
Mark Priestley
From the village, a one team player of 35 plus years. Has played at all levels for the club except the ex Womens team. Some say he would have been better suited playing for them. Took him years to finally get his first century in 2003 against Lambley. Once took 5-12 with the ball, god only knows how he did it.
Matt Udall
Travelling in from Coventry, a regular player for the club. Some feel sorry for his boy Nathan when boring him of his cricketing exploits when stuck on the M69 in busy traffic after yet another duck. Always gives a true report of his first love Coventry City, a complete opposite of other dreamers playing on the day.
Dave Fowkes
Ex opening bat, now the scourge of bowlers in Division R of the Village League with East Bridgford. Wicketkeeper on the day to limit byes. The theory is, if he misses the ball with the gloves, theres a good chance some other part of his anatomy will stop it. Renown for his speed between the wickets, once scored 73 probably all in singles. Never been known to run a three. Turns his arm over and best bowling for the club was 5 for 10. Nowadays has shortened his run up to 1 step.
Dave 'On a sixpence' Proverbs
All rounder who scored many runs and bowled on a length during the nineties. Could hit the length nine times out of ten. Hand reared two cracking boys who have also scored many runs for the club. Another player who top scored with 95 in the 1993 season against Wollaton and took 7-39 against Wymeswold. The 1993 season saw him score 700 plus runs and take 65 wickets
Chris Dabell
Now he has been rebuilt the "bionic Dibbs' has been in training at the Cuckoo especially for the game. On his comeback last week he took yet another 5 wickets with his tweekers. Reckons if Dave Proverb could bowl on a sixpence, he could bowl on a 5p. Had a habit of talking the batsman out (he once did it with me).
Steve Pepper
The original Mr Crabtree of the side. Never had a cross word with anyone. Lived in the village, brought up in the traditional Thrumpton cricket way with a roll up in one hand and a walnut cake in the other. His mother was another lady who came up through the Thrumpton Cricket Tea Ladies Academy. Parents graves just 50 yards from the hallowed turf.
Inam Malik
Poached from the Inland Revenue Sunday side in the 90's along with Burnsy. Left arm ruthless fast bowler in his day. Should still be at the club today. Be aware no bribes on the day, he works for the tax office. Best bowling for the club 6-35 and for a number 11 bat scored 30.
Finally there could be a bevvy of the Thrumpton tea lady Academy present, the ones who are responsible for the fine figures on show out on the field of play on the day
Now the club have finally got rid of Trevor, please feel free to add tributes and insults in the comments section below
