Being my 1st game as part of the coaching set up at Thrumpton I wanted to help the team get a victory, this was not to be the case last night against a well organised team (West Bridgfordians).
West Bridg batted 1st and went straight for the kill from the 1st ball and scored very quickly. The boundaries were short and West B exploited this well by finding the gaps, at one stage it looked like they were going to score 150 but some tight bowling in the middle section by Harry P and James pinned them back a bit. Some good catches in the field were some highlights but some sloppy fielding only cost runs.
In the end West Bridgford scored 138 a score which was getable with the fast outfield and short boundaries.
Thrumpton under 13's came to bat and sorry to say shot themselves in the foot with some poor calling and backing up and had 4 out of 7 dismissals by run outs. Some highlights of batting were from Jake B (19) Jack S (16) and some lovely sixes from Tom H. Thrumpton finished on 72 all out but again never used all the overs. The run rate was going well but wickets fell at the same time.
Saturday's training will be fielding and running between the wickets and will be looking for a massive improvement.
I don't mean to be negative but when you lose the game yourselves it is frustrating.
