Sunday morning saw the UNder 13's travel to Wymeswold for a Leics & Rutland League game.

The U13's travelled to Wymeswold on Sunday morning for their final away fixture in the Leics & Rutland League.

Skipper Jack Towers won the toss for the 2nd week running and chose to field first.

Jack opened the bowling himself and immediately pick up 2 wickets, both clean bowled, in his first over and just missing out on a hat trick.

Daniel O opened the bowling at the other end with some great bowling that saw the batsman playing and missing.

Jack then picked up his 3rd wicket in his 2nd over, another clean bowled victim.

Following the opening blasts youngster Sam Towers was then thrown the ball along with Jacob Taylor.

Both bowled really well and during Sam's 2nd over a run out by Jacob Taylor saw Wymeswold reduced to 22 for 4.

After 2 over JAcob was replaced by the other youngster in the side George Mayell, who picked up a wicket immediately and he got the number 6 batsman to glove one behind to Lewis Wales with the score on 37.

Throughout all this though the Wymeswold opener had batted we, even finding the odd boundary and he finally retired on 27.

Shortly after this though another wicket fell as Jacob Bates had number 7 caught by Jacob Taylor.

Will Hennessey, Max Baker, Jacob Bates and Finn Manners all came on and bowled well with Finn also getting a run out in the final over.

Wymeswold finished their innings on 75 for 7 from their 20 overs.

After a quick turnaround skipper Jack opened the inning alongside Lewis Wales.

Both batted very well, picking off the bad balls and also running well between the wickets.

Jack eventually retired on 26 from just 15 balls.

After taking a quick drink Lewis then missed a straight one to be clean bowled for an excellent 14 from just 19 balls.

This proved to be the only wicket to fall as Daniel Oakley (10 not out) and Finn Manners (14 not out) saw Thrumpton across the finish line in just 13 overs with some superb batting as they picked the gaps and picked up easy runs.

It was another fantastic victory for the U13's and great to see some of the younger less experienced players getting their chance with the ball.

We now finish the league with 2 home games over the next 2 Sundays as we welcome Melton Mowbray this week followed by Old Dalby on the 17th to conclude the season.
