Sunday saw the U13's finish the 2nd half of their Leics & Rutland League campaign unbeaten with victory over Old Dalby.

Sunday saw the Under 13's take to the field for the last time this season as they welcomed Old Dalby to the Badger Set.

Old Dalby won the toss and chose to bat first, despite only having 8 men.

Daniel Oakley and Finn Manners opened the bowling for the Badgers and tried to find an early wicket.

It was Finn who made the first breakthrough as, with the score on 21, he clean bowled the Old Dalby opener for just 3.

We then saw another small partnership which also saw the other opener retire not out on 25.

Just after that retirement though Dan got a wicket as the number 4 was caught by Will Hennessey at point for 0.

Once again another small partnership formed until, with the score on 50, captain Matthew North picked up 2 wickets in 3 balls as he clean bowled both the number 5 for 3 and the number 6 for 0.

It was now 50 for 4 and after the number 3 batsman retired the scoring rate slowed down and Thrumpton started to rotate their bowlers round.

With the score on 70, youngster Sam Towers got the next breakthrough with a very simple caught and bowled effort to remove the number 7.

That wicket brought in the retired number 2 batsman who immediately start hitting the ball hard to the boundary.

With the score on 87, Matt North got another wicket as clean bowled the number 8 batsman for 0.

With the fall of that wicket in came the retired number 3 batsman.

Old Dalby really started punishing the bowlers with anything short going straight to the boundary.

With the penultimate ball though Jacob bates finally removed the Old Dalby opener as he was caught behind by Lewis Wales for 63 from just 34 balls.

Old Dalby were all out for 110 in 19.5 overs, a very decent total.

Daniel Oakley and Max Benson opened the batting and hoped to get on with the run chase, taking advantage of all the gaps in the field.

With the score on 15 though Max was clean bowled for 0.

Lewis Wales now joined Dan in the middle and the pair found the boundary well and also picked plenty of gaps to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

With the score on 38 we had a quick break as a rain shower came over.

That break in concentration saw Dan clean bowled immediately after the break.

Captain Matthew North now joined Lewis in the middle and both put away anything short.

Lewis was the first to reach 25 in just 21 balls, a great knock.

Finn Manners was in at 5 following the retirement and after getting off the mark quickly he was clean bowled for 4 with the score on 59.

Jacob Taylor now joined Matthew in the middle and we soon scoring plenty of runs.

Matt went on the attack and was soon at 25 in just 15 balls which also included a six.

Will Hennessey joined Jacob in the middle and these two saw the badgers home as they reached their target in 14.5 overs.

Jacob was 7 not out and Will 11 not out.

It was a great way to finish the season with another victory.

The second half of the season has seen the side win all 5 of the games they have played with the game against Melton Mowbray rained off.

Well done to every single player, the development of this side from start to finish of the season has been fantastic.

Thanks also to all the parents and supporters.

Hope to see you all at presentation evening on Friday 29th August.
