U13's Claim First League Win!

Egerton Park won the toss and elected to bat on Sunday morning.

Despite some good tight bowling however Thrumpton couldn't get an early breakthrough.

That wicket eventually came with the score on 46 as Matt North took a simple catch off the bowling of Sam Towers.

Thrumpton then got their next breakthrough with the score on 58 as Jamie Hill took a great catch at point off the bowling of Finn Manners.

Despite these two wickets though runs started to leak and the extras total started to creep up with Egerton Park finishing on 110 for 2 from their 20 overs.

After a quick turnaround Max Benson and skipper Matt North opened the innings and started a very steady response. Eventually Matt retired not out on 25 and shortly after with the score on 41 Max was bowled for a well played 7.

Lewis Wales was now in with Jacob Taylor but after hitting a couple of 4's Lewis was out too having scored just 12 with the score on 64.

Jacob continued to bat sensibly at the other end and retired not out by smashing a big 6 into the field to finish on 28.

Finn Manners was now in with Max Baker and scored a quick boundary before Finn was out for 4 with the score on 93 and then next man in Jamie Hill was also out without troubling the scorers.

Ben Gill now joined Max in the middle and after a brief chat from his coach in the middle proceeded to go onto the attack and picked up a fantastic 14 runs to level the scores before he was caught out.

Joe Bailey then came out and with the field all in smashed the ball to the boundary for a 4 giving the badgers a 5 wicket victory with 2 overs and a ball to spare.

A wonderful performance with the bat from the juniors as we chased down our highest target of the season so far.

Might be a bit of fielding and bowling to work on in the couple of weeks training sessions.
