Sunday morning saw the Under 13's travel to Quorn for their latest L&RYCL match.

Once again with us being in the middle of holiday season we were missing several players including captain Matthew North.

The side did however see the return of Lewis Wales, Jacob Taylor and Zoe Howick. With youngsters Joseph Higgins and Thomas Davinson continuing their step up to hardball cricket.

Ben Gill continued in his role as stand in skipper, winning the toss and asking Quorn to bat first on a gloriously sunny morning.

Lewis Wales and Jacob Taylor opened the bowling with both bowling very tight but not being able to get a wicket.

The first wicket fell in the 7th over with Skipper Ben bowling the Quorn opener.

Then in the next over Sam Towers continued his good form with the ball removing the other opening batsman.

Then after a brief run of boundaries from the Quorn number 4, Jamie Hill picked up his wicket making it 30 for 3.

A partnership then started to form with the number 3 and number 5 batsman finding a few boundaries as the skipper looked to give all his bowlers a go.

With the score on 66 Tom Davinson picked up his first hardball wicket with Jacob Taylor taking the catch.

Then just 3 runs later Quorn were 5 down as Jacob Taylor picked up a run out.

The Badgers though couldn't pick up another wicket although some good tight bowling saw Quorn finish their 20 overs on 90 for 5.

After the turnaround Jacob Taylor and Ben Gill headed out to open the innings.

The both got off to a fantastic start with boundaries coming with ease.

With the score on 34 though the skipper mistimed one and was caught for 13 from just 10 balls.

Lewis Wales now joined Jacob in the middle and built a fantastic partnership punishing any bad balls to the boundary.

Jacob was the first to retire reaching 26 from 27 balls.

Sam Towers now joined Lewis in the middle and then pushed the score on towards our target. Lewis went on to retire on 27 from just 18 balls.

Zoe Howick now joined Sam in the middle and was quickly off the mark with a boundary.

With the score on 87 though Sam was out for just 2 as he was clean bowled.

Blaine Grewcock joined Zoe in the middle and was a spectator at the other end as Zoe smashed the winnings runs to the boundary.

A fantastic 8 wicket victory for the badgers who have now won 7 games in a row and once again proved that the future of Thrumpton CC is very bright.

This Sunday morning sees us welcome Rothley Park to the Badger Set, if you've not been down to one of the Under 13s games yet then why not come on down!

See you there!
