The Under 13's welcomed Egerton Park to the Badger Set on Sunday morning hoping to make it 9 wins in a row!

With bright sunshine and the smell of cooking Bacon drifting across the ground the Under 13's took to the field for their final home game of the season.

With several of the senior players returning from holidays it was very strong looking line up but we were still able to give a debut to Dylan Jowett.

Finn Manners and Lewis Wales opened the badgers innings and quickly went on the attack with Finn smashing 2 sixes out the ground. Finn quickly race to 25 and retired.

That brough birthday boy Jacob Taylor to the crease and he looked to carry on the good foundation that had been built. Lewis was now the batsman on the attack and was quick to punish any bad bowling.

With the score on 67 Jacob was the first Badger to fall as he was bowled for just 3.

Shortly afterwards Lewis reached 28 and retired having just faced 16 balls.

Captain Matthew North was now joined in the middle by Harry James and the 2 batsman carried on build a solid innings. The skipper was soon to retire though, reaching 27 from just 14 balls.

Joe Bailey was next in and kept working the singles with Harry.

With the score on 124 though Harry was out for 11 as he was bowled.

Zoe Howick now joined Joe in the middle and again started picking off the singles and running hard.

The pair put on a quick 19 until Zoe was out for just 3 with the score on 143.

Max Baker came in at 8 and saw us through the last few overs for the Badgers to finish on 150 for 3 with Joe 16 not out.

It was our highest batting score of the season and shows how much the side has come on with contributions all the way down the order.

After a quick turnaround the Badgers took to the field confident of defending the total. Sam Towers opened the bowling along with Jacob Taylor.

After an opening partnership of 32, Jacob finally got the breakthrough with Matt North taking the catch.

Then another partnership build although runs were not coming as quickly for Egerton as they were for Thrumpton.

With the score on 66 a great piece of field from Finn Manners saw a the number 3 batsman run out.

2 runs later the Egerton opener retired for a well played 25.

The retirement though saw another wicket fall as debutant Dylan Jowett came on to bowl. The number 4 batsman tried to work it round the corner and was caught by Max Baker for 0, a well deserved wicket for Dylan.

Then 2 runs later Max himself got a wicket with a caught and bowled to make it 71 for 4.

In the next over captain Matthew North got a wicket too as he bowled the number 7 also for 0.

The Egerton run rate was always behind though and they could only finish on 83 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Another fantastic performance from the batters had given them victory and made it 9 wins in a row.

The big question is now, can we make it 10 in our final game away at Syston on Sunday morning. Let hope so!
