Sunday morning saw the Badger U13's take to the field for the final time this season, at Syston Town, looking to make it ten wins in a row!

Thrumpton arrived at Syston Town on Sunday morning for their final match of the season hoping to make it 10 wins in a row.

Skipper Matthew North won the toss and asked Syston to bat first.

The Badgers took to the field but only with 10 players due to a certain player leaving his whites at home and having to send his Dad back home to fetch them.

Harry James and Sam Taylor opened the bowling. Harry bowled very tight but the Syston opener took a liking to Sam and kept working the ball behind square on the leg side and finding the boundary. Even changes to the field couldn't stop him and Syston were off to a good start.

With the score on 25, Thrumpton finally had a breakthrough as Jacob "Wheres my Whites" Taylor got a run out having only just taken to the field.

The other syston opener would then go on to retire and shortly after the Badgers got another breakthrough as that man again Jacob Taylor bowled the number 4 in his first over.

Then with the score on 69 Zoe Howick picked up a wicket as Lewis Wales took an easy catch behind.

Thrumpton now started to pile on the pressure and stopped the boundaries coming. Although there was a few wides that seemed to boost the total.

With the score on 81 Blaine Grewcock picked up a wicket as the number 6 was caught by Dylan Jowett.

Then a run out by Joe Bailey made it 82 for 5.

Blaine then got another wicket as the number 8 was stumped by Lewis Wales for 0.

It was then Joe's turn to get some wickets as he removed the number 9, stumped by Lewis Wales and then also got the number 10 with a fantastic one handed catch by Matthew North in the same over.

It was now 85 for 8 as we heading into the final 2 overs and Joe picked up another wicket as he had an easy caught and bowled chance.

That wicket brought in the retired opener who managed to push the score on a little but Syston finished their innings on 107 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Joe Bailey finished with 3 for 8 from his 2 overs, including a double wicket maiden and Blaine Grewcock with 2 for 8 from his 2 overs.

Despite the extras it was a good performance in the field from everyone and a special mention to Matthew North who captained it very well. A lot of teams seem to let their Coaches sort the field placements but Matt has been exceptional this season and has really made both Coaches jobs a lot easier.

After a quick turnaround Thrumpton headed out looking to get off to a quick start with the opening pair of Finn Manners and Lewis Wales.

Both batsman ran hard and found the boundary with ease. It wasn't long before both batsman had retired.

Lewis was the first to retire as he reached 26 from just 16 balls, the same as last week.

Shortly after Finn also retired on 26, 2 ball quicker than the previous week.

That brought Jacob Taylor and Matthew North into the middle now and some more confident batting saw the badger home with ease, finishing on 109 for 0 in just 11.2 overs.

Jacob finished on 20 not out and Matt on 14 not out giving the Badger a victory by 10 wickets.

So the Under 13's now complete their season winning their final 10 fixtures n a row.

In fact it has been a fantastic season that has seen the Under 13's win 11 of their 13 games played.

Every player has grown in confidence this season and the manner in which the team play the game is fantastic.

From both of your Coaches we thank you for another incredible season you have certainly made your Coaches proud.

Also a big thank you to all the Parents for your support this season, we always seem to outnumber the opposition and your support is always appreciated by us all. It has certainly made Sunday mornings very enjoyable.

Don't forget Junior presentation night and BBQ on Friday 11 September, it's always a fantastic night and a wonderful way to finish the season.

See you there!
