Under 15's Make District Final

The Under 15's travelled to Sileby Town on Thursday evening for their Leics & Rutland Cup District Semi Final.

In what was very testing conditions with Rain, Wind and the occasional bit of sunshine, it tested the stamina of both the players and spectators in a low scoring affair.

Sileby won the toss and had no hesitation in asking the Badgers to bat first on a hard but damp green wicket.

Captain Jack Towers and wicketkeeper Lewis Wales tried to get the side of to a quick start by hitting a few boundaries.

Lewis could only score 4 though and Jack was out for 13.

The bowling from Sileby was very good with the ball just nipping off the seam.

Matt North though dug in and hung around for a while, scoring 11.

Despite losing a few wickets and looking in trouble at 51 for 7, a fantastic partnership from Max Baker (8) and Ben Gill (12) developed and kept the scoreboard ticking over.

The Badgers eventually finished on 76 all out in 19.3 overs.

That score was a always going to be a challenging total in the conditions and with Matt North (3 for 10) and Chloe Towers (2 for 17) picking up 5 wickets in the first 7 overs the Badgers were on top from the start.

Captain Jack Towers also picked up a wicket in his first over and with only Whitmore showing any defence in a well played 28, the result was never really in doubt.

Joel Bembridge picked up a couple of wickets and Jacob Taylor picked up one as well.

Sileby did however see out the overs and finished on 61 for 9 from their 20 overs, giving Thrumpton a victory by 15 runs and making it back to back visits to the District Final.

The second semi final is due to take place on Friday so we should find out our opponents over the weekend.
