4. "The Grant Woolley Glare"

Anybody who has watched Grant Woolley bat will know that he had without doubt the best forward defensive shot in the club. The problem with it was that it had happened before the bowler had released the ball.

It was in the field that things got a bit scary. Whenever there was an appeal and wherever he was in the field he would let out a big roar of "HOWS THAT ONE THEN" and that could even be from Square Leg.

When he was given the chance to bowl and if the ball hit anywhere on the pad or went through to the keeper, the roar would be "HOWS THAT ONE THEN" . The only addition was the fixed glare he gave to the Umpire.

With a lot of village Umpires looking for an easy afternoon it is believed that his glare and appeal helped to improve his bowling averages.
