A general meeting was held at Thrumpton Hall on Friday 16th November 1984 in the presence of 20 members. Mr G Seymour took the chair. Apologies were received from Mr S Dilks, Mr T Nichol, Mr G Shaw and Mr M Priestley.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and were signed by the Chairman to be a correct record.

The Treasurers gave a report of the financial situation and said that after paying all outstanding bills the club had £10 in the Building Society. The income for the year was subscriptions £90, Match Fees £297, and the raffle £159 and 23p. Altogether the total income was £564. There was one bill of £170 to pay to Highvale.

The accounts were somewhat in disorder due to the fact that Mr S Pepper had taken over from Mr D Swift halfway through the season.. Steven was thanked by the President on behalf of the club for agreeing to take on the responsibility of sorting out the accounts at such short notice. A letter of thanks was to be sent to Mr D Swift for his work over the last 4 years.

The averages for the season were read out (as above) by Mr R Priestley . A vote of thanks was given to Mr R Priestley for the tedious job of working out the averages.

The Officials for the 1985 season were elected as follows.

President Mr G Seymour

Treasurer Mr S Pepper

General Secretary Mrs M Shaw

Fixture Secretary Mr R Priestley

Social Committee Mr A Footitt Mr S Pepper Mr M Priestley

The Vice Presidents were voted as the previous year with the exception of Mr Dickerson. The Secretary was to write to Mrs M Small and Mrs P Hickling to see if they still wished to be included.

The captains were then elected for the 1985 season as follows

Saturday Captain Mr H Pick

Sunday Captain Mr G Shaw

Evening League Mr A Footitt

Vice Captain Mr P Taylor

The committee was the 3 Captains, Vice Captain, Team Secretary, Treasurer and Mr R Priestley

The Umpires were then elected Mr R Smith Mr W Pepper

Scorer Mrs R Shaw

Once again the subscriptions were discussed. Some members thought that the match fees go up to 75p. A vote was taken on the issue and it was decided to keep it at 50p and the annual subscription at £5 per member.

As yet nothing has been arranged for the Christmas Prize Draw and as it was getting rather late to get tickets printed Mr R Priestley suggested leaving it until Spring. Mr S Pepper said that he would investigate getting some raffle tickets printedin a hurry and in future the raffle be left to the Social Committee.

It was also discussed about a Presentation Dinner to be held in the New Year with a disco to follow a little later on. In Any Other Business it was discussed about the Single Wicket competition being discontinued. Mr I Adkin suggested that it be re introduced after one year. Also that the wicket keeper should not be included in the Catching awards but it was agreed that he be included in the Fielding awards.

Mr I Adkin also said that the practice nets should be booked for the next season as there were players who benefitted from this weekly practice.. There was also a vote taken at the next Annual General Meeting for the Players Player of the Year Award.

The meeting was brought to a close at 9.15pm with a vote of confidence for his continued interest in the club and for the use of the cricket ground and facilities.

June 16 1984 (Hucknall Despatch) Thrumpton (180-4) Papplewick 2nd XI (88 All Out)

Papplewicks 2nd XI suffered a heavy defeat in Division 3 of the South Notts Village League thanks to indifferent batting and bowling at Thrumpton.
The home team recovered from a shaky start of (25 for3) to build a useful total of (180 for4). Taylor (72not out) and Pick (44) together with a good supporting role from Gant (25 not out). They all hammered the ball hard to good effect and Rowbottom with (2-22) was the only Papplewick bowler to cause any problems.
The task for the task always looked beyond the Papplewick batsmen, even though young Gary Towles (22) battled hard, Mark Eastwood (13) and Mick Dear (12) reached double figures but Papplewick lacked a big Innings.
