The travels of the Thrumpton Cap 7 of 26

7. Feb 8 "From fugitive to International Umpire"

Once again the Thrumpton cap has turned up in the most unbelievable place. He said in his first message he was a free spirit .

Never has there been a truer word spoken. His latest message with photograph included reads

As I reported in my last message it was off to the cricket for me, I made my way to the Belgrano Athletic Club to watch a final warm up game for the Argentine National squad as they prepare to head to Singapore for the ICC World Cricket League Division 5.

Despite fast learning to expect the unexpected on my trip even I couldn't have predicted what was in store.............On my arrival I was introduced to some very nice people and we got chatting about the home of village cricket when someone asked me if I knew the famous umpire Ronnie Priestley, who would have thought it!!!!!

Anyway I said I did and after one of those "any friend of Ronnies is a friend of mine" conversations I was asked if I would umpire the game................who would have believed a little cap from Thrumpton would be standing in a match in Argie?.................well all I can say is...........see the evidence!!!

Todays picture is of me and Henry, my umpiring partner, Henry is one of Argentinas top officials and also stands in ICC Regional Competitions.

"OWZAT was the call, not out my Argentine friend.........."

Belgrano Athletic Club is an amateur sports club from the Belgrano neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. One of Argentina's oldest institutions still in existence, Belgrano is one of the four clubs that founded the Argentine Rugby Union.

Thrumpton Village Cricket Club send their full apologies to the ECB. We realise that the cap has not been on any umpiring course of any kind and is now making decisions of the highest esteem. We have no control back in England over his actions. As he said he is a free spirit.
